MONDAY SEPT 15TH,
2008
Ok, sorry for the delay!...but I am going to try and re-launch
the ever popular Packers Story Board again. We are a third of the
way through a great Packer season, with our teams and cheer
leaders doing a great job, and so as a compliment to their
efforts here are some funny stories, pics, videos and anecdotes
that will help to make our web site even more fun for those who
visit!

I decided to start clicking away trying to find some fun shots

Well the story of Chapter 2 has
to be the dramatic win of the Super Midget team over the
undefeated Dolphins squad. The Dolphins came into the game
with an impressive 9-0 record. But quickly the Packers
Supers established themselves holding the game to a zero/zero
tie at the half. After the break a great kick return for a
touch down by Joseph Williams and the Supers will go up 6-0.
As the closing minutes of the game come down a Packer toss is
picked up by the Dolphins and run down to the 6 yard line.
The Packers defense holds. With the offense on a
their own 3 yard line and facing a 4th down Coach Guyton makes the call for QB Joseph Williams
to take a safety and the Packers kick the ball out to the 33
yard line where the clock runs out on the Dolphins attempt to
score.
Supers win and with it take first seed in the
Division...Go Packers!
Ecstatic Super Midget
Fans celebrate after the supers defense holds the Dolphins club
on 4th down.

Chapter 3 ... and the regular season ends. Sadly the Varsity
squad departs without a spot on the playoffs after a season in which
many of the squad played their hearts out but did not reap the
rewards. Good luck to those 14 year olds that will move on to
new teams and hopefully those 13year olds who are less than 170 lbs
will consider returning to the Packers Varsity team for next
year...as we hear on the rumor mill that a certain Coach Charlie
Gunn might be considering a return to the Packers!!
(Don't tell anyone though it is still a
secret!)
Hey
but the great news is that the Peewees, Supers and Midgets all ended
the regular season as the
TOP SEEDS
of their divisions. Which means
that they not only play the 8th seeded teams in the first round of
the playoffs but they also end up playing the winner of the 4th and
5th seeded game in round 2. Effectively meaning in all cases
they will likely not meet their strongest rivals until the Super
Bowl.
Check it out Packer fans ....

Chapter Four...and it is the Super Bowl of Cheerleading at the
annual 2006 TBYFL Cheeroffs. The football players take a deserved
week off prior to the first round of the playoffs, the lightweight
players are allowed to add 1 lb of weight (phew!) and the cheer
leaders get a chance to show off their cheer routines to an
enthusiastic crowd at the Sickles High School stadium.
THREE PACKER TEAMS TAKE TROPHIES AT
CHEEROFFS
The Town and
Country Packer Cheer leading teams have great success at the
recent TBYFL cheer off competition by bringing home three
trophies. The Peewees came 2nd, and the Supers and Midgets
both came 6th, with the Varsity squad coming close by placing.
The Flag cheer team did a great job as well with all 12 TBYFL
teams coming first as is always the tradition.
Great Job Packer Ladies!

Chapter 5 tells the
story of a weekend of victories for the TNC Packers!! 3 Packer
Football squads head to the TBYFL Super Bowl after winning each of
their semi final games...and the Super Midget Cheerleaders take
first place at the Annual Cheer Blast cheerleading competition!

In 1996 3
Packer teams went to the Super Bowl, and the Raiders once took 4
teams into the Super Bowl weekend, however never in the history of
the TBYFL have 3 teams from one club won the competition...so keep
your fingers crossed, and come by and support your Packer squads as
they look to make

HERE'S ANOTHER INTERESTING FACT...NONE OF OUR THREE SUPER BOWL

In
the second round of the 2005
Super Midget Playoffs the Packers lost a close game in overtime
against the Colts after a game that was more like a war than a youth
football playoff match up. The Packer coaching team of Don
Short and James Guyton watched the 2005 Super Midget Super Bowl game
with a vow to return to unfinished business in 2006.
Head Coach James
Guyton arrives for the 2006 Super Bowl game "dressed for war" and

The End of Year Party went off with a bang.
The board decided to do a Breakfast party for a change and it was

teams, and we got snaps of each group collecting their trophies.

How does one describe the 2006 season for the Town and Country
football club. What started out as season with great hopes
from the management and board of directors, turned into a season of
even greater successes and many many memories most of our folks will
never forget. On this foundation we as the board will forge
into 2007 building on these successes, adding more benefits for our
families, upgrading our efficiency as an organization, focusing on
improving every facet of the club and turning the Packers into a
Youth Football and Cheerleading Dynasty in the Tampa Bay area..
In this light I have labeled this season as...well...a touchdown!
-
It was a touchdown because we started the year with a windfall
from the Hillsborough County and Leto High school providing us
with a whole bunch of new equipment for our coaches to use.
Thanks to both these organizations for their unending support.
-
It was a touchdown because the famous portable became a reality
and our life under the Hanley Road Snow Cone was transformed
into life in an air conditioned office!
-
It was a touchdown because a solid set of training camp
participation from all teams created the foundation upon which
we built a record breaking super bowl run
-
It was a touchdown because for the first time the board of
directors were faced with the fewest unpaid registrations ever,
and we ended our financial year debt free and with a few dollars
left in the bank to start 2007.
-
It was a touchdown because we established by December probably
the most experienced coaching staff for the 2007 season that we
have ever had.
-
It was a touchdown because the fans in our support stands
exceeded all expectations, and the numbers for our Super Bowl
day were "through the roof" in a standing only crowd...selling
over 200 tickets in a presale fund raiser.
-
It was a touchdown because the Cheerleaders were one of a few
teams to have won trophies in at least three of the four
divisional groups.
-
It was a touchdown because our cheerleaders won first place at
the Annual Cheer Blast competition.
-
It was a touchdown when super midget running back Justin Conway
ran the ball back for the win to secure the Supers the top seed
in the playoffs and ultimately giving them the championship.
-
It was a touchdown when long time Varsity Packers coach Charlie
Gunn returned to his position as head coach of the Packers
Varsity squad for the 2007 season.
-
It was a touchdown when the fans saw our teams run through the
now famous Packer Arch prior to their championship games.
-
It was touchdown when Ray McLeod's Peewees secured a perfect
winning season and took home the Super Bowl.
-
It was a touchdown when Major Bloom Packers Midget corner
intercepted the ball in the dying minutes of the Midget Super
Bowl game and secured the win for the Packers.
-
It was a touchdown watching the flag boys and girls taking home
their trophies with proud parents walking them hand in hand.
-
It was touchdown when I spent Super Bowl Saturday taking
pictures of Grandparents after Grandparents in the stands
proudly supporting their football and cheerleading grand
children and then cheering as three Super Bowl Trophies ended up
in Packer hands.
-
It was a touchdown when we started registration for the 2007
season and a record number of our Packer families decided to
return with their children for the next season.
-
It was a touchdown when I was called by Commissioner Mark Sharpe
in December and he handed me a check for $2000 towards the
Packers 2007 season because he felt we do a great service to the
community...his comment to me "I wish I could do more"
Thank you Mark!
-
It was a touchdown when Packers parents all participated in the
concession day and we managed to get to days end with volunteers
a plenty!
-
It was touchdown watching faithful Varsity players showing
immense character by committing themselves to playing the entire
season with their hearts despite all their many obstacles.
-
And finally it was touchdown because you our boys, girls, fans
and parents, board members and management, grandfathers and
grandmothers, aunts and uncles, coaches and assistants, and all
those not specifically mentioned placed a Packers logo on and
declared....
