Is this a recreational or competitive program?
We believe in teaching the principals of good
sportsmanship, fair play, and that winning is secondary to
learning, our football and cheerleading programs are extremely
competitive. Each year, the competition gets better and
better and our program expects and demands more out of the
athletes to keep Town and Country as one of the premier programs.
How long does the season last?
The season officially begins with the first day of practice in
Mid July, although some squads
may have voluntary pre-season mini-camps, which are
recommended. The length of the season will of course
depend on how well each of the squads do throughout the
season, but at minimum the season will continue through
the first week of December. The TBYFL Super Bowl historically has taken
place in early December, and competitions for cheerleading may
stretch into the earlier part of next year.
What are the costs to register my son or daughter?
The cost to register your child is $270 (Football), $180 (Flag
Football). $250 (Cheerleading) and $200 (Flag Cheerleading).
What other commitments are expected of the parents during the
season?
At the registration each family is required to sign
up for at least one committee. Participation on this
committee is not optional and must be fulfilled to ensure the
continued playing status of your child. There are
specific fund-raisers that are mandatory throughout the
season, such as the pizza kit sale.
How many positions are open on each squad?
Generally there are some openings on each squad for both
football players and cheerleaders. The hardest groups to
get into for Football and Cheerleading are the Pee Wee and
Super Midget squads which tend to fill up quickly. But
typically the squads have a total of around 25 to 35 players
each.
What do I need to bring to registration?
If the player or cheerleader did not play or cheer with the
Packers last season, you will need to bring a copy of their
birth certificate which will be retained by the Packers. One
parent or legal guardian must also be present to sign
applicable forms.
Where do the Packers practice?
Practice is held at the Alexander Park Fields off of
Hillsborough.
When is practice?
The standard TBYFL rules have practices starting mid July,
practice will be on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. All
weekday practices will be from 6.30-8.30 pm. The only time we
will change the regular practice days and times are in cases
of make-up practices or special situations.
Please Note: During the first 4 weeks of practice the
practices are on EVERY day of the week Monday – Friday. This
helps the teams get ready for the season.
When and where are the games played at?
All games are scheduled on Saturday's in either the morning or
afternoon. The first game is scheduled around Mid August (see
schedule)
Majority of our games are played at Skyway Park which is at
the end of the Veterans Expressway off Memorial Hwy. (next to
Rocky Point Golf Course). We may play a game or two at
Oldsmar
or Progress Village during the regular season.
